Snow Forecast Morzine Avoriaz 31 Jan 2008
Well after blue skies and very cold temps for the last few weeks it looks like we are in for a dusting of new snow for the New Year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Happy Christmas to everyone reading this.
Christmas Eve saw blue skies and busy pistes so Chris and Linz ( the guys from The Loft ) and I decided to avoid the crowds and head off to the Valley de la Manche for the first time this season.
The cold weather had kept the snow in pretty good condition, although the amount of early snow meant there were slips and slides all over the valley.
A run down the middle brought us to a windlip and resulted in us throwing ourselves off it. Here are a couple of pics…
At the top!
Chris doing his flying Santa impression.
Linz mid spin.
Finally, the parting shot on the way home…
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

Monday 22nd December
Well it looks like the snow has finally stopped falling…
Temps seem to be warming up for the beginning of the week with blue skies up to Xmas Day.
Ideal for those looking to cruise the perfectly groomed pistes over Xmas.
Things are getting colder later in the week with the potential of snow towards New Year.
Here is the view of Nyon from my Balcony the other morning…
Wednesday 10th December
Here are the snow conditions here in Morzine and Avoriaz…
EPIC!!!
I have not seen so much snow fall in Morzine in such a short period of time.
Loads more snow is on the way with temps remaining very cold. Anyone that is coming out for a pre Xmas slide is in for a really good time.
Here’s a pic of the new rainbow rail in The Stash. It really is that big!!!
I am off for a slide in waist deep powder!

Sunday 30th November
Well there has been dustings of new snow most evenings and the temperatures have been very cold. Snow cannons have been firing each night.
Still snow in Morzine village, and the lower Pleney slopes are still white.
More snow is due to arrive throughout the coming week and temperatures will remain cold.
We had a day’s riding up in Avoriaz on Saturday and things are looking really good for an early opening next weekend, very good bases on all pistes and a good covering off piste but the larger rocks are still poking up to wreck new boards!!
Gratuitous photo time, taken whilst hiking the Arare the other week…
With all the snow that arrived over the last few days we decided to drive up to Avoriaz and take a hike up the Arare and get as close to the peak of Les Hauts Forts as possible.
Within a couple of hours we were close to the peak but could not make it right to the top due to the risk of slides and sluffing snow. The walk was certainly worth it though as we got fresh tracks in thigh deep powder with blue skies all the way back down to the town.
There is so much snow in Morzine and Avoriaz and it is still snowing now. All the snow cannons are firing so it looks that we may be having an early start to the season.
If you want to make good use of the early snow we still have a few places left for pre Xmas Flexi Breaks w/c 14th Dec click here
The view from the halfway point. Still a way to go!!
Snowy tracks at the start of the hike
Beautiful mountain views.

Well it looks like winter is just around the corner here in Morzine.
“Good-Bye” Autumn and “Hello” to Winter.
Snow is forecast - heavy snow on Wednesday- and freezing levels are dropping below 1000m.
Which means snow in Morzine town and shed loads of snow up in Avoriaz.
