Mountain Biking Holidays in Morzine, Portes du Soleil
Morzine, located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, re-opens its lift system in Summer and swaps it’s ski and snowboard roots for Mountain Bike (MTB) action from mid June to mid September. The summer months see Morzine become a mecca for VTT, “Vélo Tout Terrain” as its known in France, and mountain bikers from all across the globe come here for one thing… stunning Alpine Scenery and World Class MTB Downhill and Singletrack Trails.
Morzine, home to its own World Class downhill trails, acts as a central hub for accessing the MTB trails of Les Gets, Avoriaz, Chatel, and the Swiss resorts of Champery and Morgins. All these MTB centres are within easy reach of each other which makes Morzine THE PLACE for a perfect mountain bike holiday in the French alps.

For the Downhill MTB lovers there are steep and technical decents from the tops of the mountains and many purpose built downhill trails situated near to the lifts for easy access and minimal pedaling! If Freeriding is your thing there are purpose built freeride, north shore and dirt jump areas with plenty of rooty dropoffs, jumps and rock drops to be discovered off the beaten track.
For the XC Rider there are miles of trails waiting to be explored. Fast rooty forrest sections, tech rocky switch-backs, fast flowing singletrack, exposed high Alpine routes, though to gentle cross country journeys in stunning Alpine valleys. With a little effort and some pedaling you can access stunning mountain vistas and fantastic world class descents which are quiet and technical.
There is also plenty on offer for beginners and families with marked “Green” XC Routes and purpose built Beginners Downhill Trails to hone your skills on.
We have been riding these mountains for 4 years so we can help you decide which trails to ride, and help point you in the right direction of some the lesser-known spots. To get the most out of a Morzine MTB holiday we suggest that beginners or family groups book a guide or instructor who will be able to take you onto the trails most suited to your abilities, and teach you the essential skills necessary to progress your riding.
