Of course, we have been in Morzine for years so here's our A - Z recommendations for the best Summer activities:
Canyoning
This is not for the faint hearted! It involves abseiling, climbing, swimming and sliding down waterfalls and river canyons in Morzine. You wear a wetsuit, trainers, helmet and harness whilst accompanied by a fully qualified guide. Great fun! Also check out gorge walking trips which are more family friendly. We recommend Frogs Rafting every time, but the Bureau des Guides in Morzine can also point you in the right direction of a qualified instructor locally.
Climbing
There are some great climbing spots in Saint Jean d'Aulps near to Morzine.
For indoor bouldering, check out the small but still challenging Squash & Bloc in Avoriaz or, if you have a car, Arkose is just under an hour away and well worth the drive!
Fantasticable
Fantasticable is an aerial zip wire that spans two valleys in Chatel sending you soaring “superman-style” head first at speeds of up to 90 km/h. It really is an ultimate white-knuckle adrenalin experience!Golf
Surrounding courses include Morzine-Avoriaz and Les Gets. There are additional courses in the Haute-Savoie set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe. They include Chamonix, Megève, Annecy, Flaine and the Evian Resort Golf Club, overlooking Lake Geneva - one of the finest clubs in France
Hiking
There are unlimited hiking possibilities in the mountains surrounding Morzine. Routes range from easy, relaxed strolls to more difficult alpine routes but the scenery is always fantastic. There are also some great walks that can be done as a family with lift assistance which makes it all the more exciting!
Morzine Tourist Office produces this walking guide that highlights some of the most popular routes.
Check out the famous Goat Village just below Lindarets bowl which you can access using the Ardent bubble. From Lindarets you can have a refreshing dip in the river then jump on a chairlift to explore Avoriaz or Chatel - it's then great fun coming down, we have our very own roller coasters!
For a relaxing day, visit Lac Montriond. There's a gentle walk around the lake or you can explore a little bit further and walk up to the Ardent waterfall. Around the lake you'll find a great play park for the kids, a few restaurants for a drink or bite to eat, mini golf, kayak and paddleboard rental, and a swimming pool if you don't fancy dipping in the lake itself.
Horse Riding
Set in the beautiful river side Parc Des Dérêches Morzine Horse Riding School is a well run centre where beginners to advanced riders can take lessons and rent ponies for treks within the park.
Mountain Biking & Bike Hire
Morzine benefits from being part of the Portes du Soleil network and so you have access to a huge amount of trails. Padel
Have a go at the racquet sport that's growing in popularity! Combining aspects of tennis and squash, Padel is a doubles game played on a small, enclosed court. Morzine has two new Padel courts in the tennis court complex which is part of the Parc des Dereches. You get free access with the MultiPass however booking is highly recommended.
Paragliding
Launching from the heights of Avoriaz with a fully qualified instructor, the pilot will fly with you in tandem before landing gently at the base of the Pleney slope allowing you to enjoy the mountain views and ride high on the adrenalin. It’s more gentle than you would expect, even your granny can do this!
Sightseeing
Morzine is in a fantastic location with the beautiful towns of Annecy, Yvoire, Evian, Chamonix, Geneva, and Montreux all within an 60-90 minute drive. You can hire a car in Morzine for complete freedom to explore or get in touch with Mountain Days Away who organise day trips to popular destinations.
Swimming
Free with the Multi Pass, Morzine has a fantastic outdoor olympic swimming pool complex with grassy sun lounger areas, a poolside restaurant and water slides. Great fun for the whole family.
Aquariaz is an indoor tropical water park with slides and a lazy river. It's in the centre of Avoriaz which you can access using the Prodains telecabine.
Alternatively, there are natural swimming lakes just outside Morzine in Montriond and Les Gets.
About an hour’s drive away is Aqua Parc - a huge water park, with more slides than you can shake a stick at!
Tennis
Morzine Tennis Club is situated in the bottom of the valley alongside the bubbling River Dranse. It contains 6 hard courts, 2 clay courts & 3 practice walls and equipment is available for rent. You get free access to the hard courts with the Multi Pass.
Tree Top Adventure
Wearing a harness and helmet you clamber around a tree top adventure playground built for both adults and kids with zip wires and rope bridges. Just like Tarzan, you swing between the trees on ropes, ladders, swings, aerial runways, cargo nets and rope bridges.

Via Ferrata
Climbing routes up rock faces using ropes, rails, ladders and pegs, originally designed during the war to allow troops to pass the mountains more easily. The professionally guided trail in Avoriaz is great, but for those seeking a more challenging route, we recommend the via ferrata in nearby Sixt-Fer-Cheval.
Whitewater Rafting
There are two possible locations for white water rafting and hydrospeeding (river-sledging) in the glorious melt water rivers around Morzine. You would do this just between Morzine and Thonon so need to plan getting there if you don't have a hire car. We highly recommend Frogs Rafting for your trips down the river for a fun and professional day out!
Waterfalls
We have a stunning waterfall in Morzine at Point De Nyon. It's an easy walk from town and a short climb to reach the summit - there is even a nice restaurant to grab a coffee at the top. For the more adventurous, you can do some Canyoning here. Again, we recommend Frogs Rafting every time!
If you fancy a day trip, we would highly recommend the waterfalls located at Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval near Samoëns. They are collectively known as the "Cascades du Fer-à-Cheval" or the "Fer-à-Cheval Waterfalls." The Fer-à-Cheval is a stunning natural amphitheater known for its horseshoe-shaped formation that consists of several impressive waterfalls. It's like Jurassic park on a wet summer day - well worth a trip and only 30 minutes down the road.
Water Skiing and Wakeboarding
Water skiing and wakeboarding are great fun. PoolSnap runs out of Thonon and Evian, both on Lac Leman or if you'd prefer to try a cable park, TNA Cable Park is about an hour's drive away just past Bonneville.
You'll need a car to get to either of these, but don't worry! If you haven't driven to Morzine, you can easily hire a car for a day or two.
French Courses for Families and Juniors
The Alpine French School offer a selection of activities and adventures in and around Morzine tied in with learning to speak French! There are lots of different options for kids, families and individuals including day and week long packages that include getting out an experiencing all the activities on offer around Morzine! It is best to pre-book before you get here but if you're already in town and want to learn some French it is worth giving them a call to see what options are available.
