Sustainability & Supporting Local Initiatives

Supporting the community we live in has always been an important part of More Mountain. For many years, we donated one euro per guest to the global tree-planting initiative, One Tree Planted.

While this had great value, we realised we wanted our contribution to have a more direct and visible impact here in Morzine. This led us to partner with Montagne Verte, a local not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving environmental sustainability within the valley.

We’re proud to continue supporting their work and will now be contributing as a yearly Foundation Member, helping fund long-term sustainability projects that benefit the whole community.

Our contribution to Montagne Verte helps fund practical local sustainability initiatives and the AlpinExpress Pass, which rewards train travel (including free lift passes for our guests who arrive by rail).

One Guest = One Euro

Today, our focus is helping local youth snowsports programmes grow and thrive. By supporting the ski and snowboard clubs in Morzine Avoriaz, we’re contributing to equipment needs, transport, coaching, and development opportunities for young athletes who represent the future of skiing and snowboarding in our area.

We’ve now shifted the remainder of our €1 Euro per guest donations to support the purchase of a new minibus for the Morzine–Avoriaz Ski and Snowboard Club.

As we became more involved locally, it has become clear there is a need for additional funding in the local ski and snowboarding clubs. In particular the Morzine Avoriaz Snowboard Club, who rely on minibuses and transport to get young riders to their training sessions and competitions.

Supporting youth development here in Morzine helps ensure that local children, whether future professionals or passionate everyday riders have better access to resources, coaching, and opportunities they need to progress in their sport.

Morzine already has a strong reputation for producing talented athletes in the snowsports world, and we believe it’s important to continue nurturing that potential.

With over 300 guests each week during our 18-week winter season and 8 week summer season, we’re in a unique position to channel meaningful funding directly back into the community.

We’re genuinely proud to sponsor our local kids and play a part in encouraging winter sports, talent development, and mountain culture within Morzine.

Climate is changing

In 2023 temperatures in France were +1.4°C compared to the average temperatures between 1991 and 2020. For the first time, every day of the year reached a temperature at least one degree above pre-industrial times. Warming in the Alps is twice the global average, so mountain regions are even further impacted.

People can be sceptical about climate change, however, it is clear to us that there are a large number of places in the world where time really IS running out for many natural habitats and environments and this in turn effects us all.
