Your Mountain Wedding, Sorted
By Vanessa Smith, Founder of Mountain Weddings Europe
I might be biased, but for an unforgettable wedding in a setting that will take your breath away, the Alps win every time.
Whether you’re envisioning a winter wonderland or a sun-soaked summer escape, a mountain wedding has it all:
Lakeside celebrations? Private mountain-top ceremonies? Multi-day celebrations filled with skiing, gourmet feasts, and candlelit chalets?
Yes, yes, and yes!
At Mountain Weddings Europe, we specialise in curating weddings for couples from around the world. No two weddings we create are ever the same, and we’re here to handle every detail so you can focus on what really matters - celebrating with the people you love most in a setting that takes your breath away.
We bring decades of planning expertise, a world-class vendor network, and a deep love for the mountains to every event we produce.
Mountain Weddings Europe started in Morzine, and this stunning alpine town continues to be one of our most popular destinations.
Morzine as a Wedding Destination
Morzine has truly stolen our hearts as a wedding destination, and one of the first decisions we guide our couples through is where everyone should stay.
More Mountain’s chalets and apartments are luxurious, stylish, and perfectly located in central Morzine. With properties of different sizes available, they can find the perfect place for your wedding party and guests to stay while being close to each other.
Picture this: lounging in the hot tub with your bridal party, wrapped in fluffy robes, sipping rosé as the sun sets over the peaks.
On the morning of the wedding, these chalets come into their own. Their bright, light rooms and laid-back luxury interiors make the perfect backdrop for those getting-ready moments.
We love placing the bride and her bridesmaids in Chalet Le Pre.
The double-height, open-plan living area, large private garden with hot tub, and stunning mountain views make it the ideal setting for pre-wedding bubbles, beauty prep, and the all-important photos!
And the groomsmen?
They’re usually a short walk away in Chalet Beau, a favourite for its sociable layout, rooftop terrace with hot tub, and proximity to the bars and restaurants on Morzine’s rue du Bourg.
For the wider wedding party, Le Cerf Penthouse, Apartment Ressachaux, and Apartment Les Echos are in the same development making them a great choice for family groups that want to be close together while having their own space!
More Mountain have a number of other properties throughout Morzine that are next door to one another - their team can recommend the best options for your guests.
And the magic doesn’t stop there…
Planning Your Wedding in Morzine
Your wedding day is about being present, not worrying about schedules, guest shuttles, or if the florist has arrived.
That’s where we come in.
When it comes to suppliers, we work with the best of the best.
Kerri from The Beauty Spot Morzine will have your makeup flawless and glowing and Kerry from Mountain Hair is our go-to for polished styles that hold beautifully in alpine conditions.
Sue at Floral Kitchen creates wild, romantic arrangements that feel completely personal to every couple, and the team at More Mountain can recommend private chefs and catering options for your stay.
We also work closely with local photographers like Verity at VTL Photography, who capture the day so effortlessly you’ll barely know they’re there.
As for logistics, our team will get your favourite people from the chalets to your ceremony location - whether that’s the serene shores of Lac Montriond, a dramatic mountain summit, or a hidden forest clearing.
Our job is to take care of every detail so you can fully live in the magic of the day.
Your only job? Soak it all in.
And then, often overlooked but one of our favourite parts: the days that follow…
Slip back into your wedding outfits (yes, the dress goes over your ski boots beautifully, we promise) and head up the mountain for a post-wedding ski shoot with your photographer.
Golden-hour portraits, snow-dusted peaks, and maybe a glass of champagne in hand.
These sessions are always filled with laughter, joy, and a real sense of “we actually did it!”
My top three tips for your wedding
After helping couples plan the most extraordinary week of their lives, my top tips for an unforgettable mountain wedding in Morzine are:
1. Get married at Lac Montriond
Every time we host a wedding here, the feedback from guests is off the charts. The lakeside setting is serene, cinematic, and deeply moving. But a word of caution - you’ll need a land licence to hold your ceremony here, so don’t skip that step! Fun fact: this spot is the original inspiration behind Mountain Weddings.
2. A pre-wedding celebration under the stars
A few days before the wedding, take your bridal party or groomsmen to a mountain refuge for a proper alpine-style hen or stag do. Whether you hike or ski tour in, you’ll have a magical night under the stars, feasting on fondue and sharing stories around the fire. In the morning, watch the sunrise before heading back down to start the wedding festivities. It’s a bonding moment your favourite people will never forget.
3. Organise a welcome scavenger hunt
On the day your guests arrive, split them into teams that mix friend groups and families - people who don’t know each other yet, but absolutely should. We have a brilliant Morzine-based template that sends them exploring the village, solving clues, and even recording a group dance to debut at the wedding! It’s fun, gets the conversation flowing, and helps everyone feel part of the celebration from the very beginning.
Ready to start planning your Morzine wedding? Just say the word. We’d love to help bring your vision to life.
