At More Mountain we pride ourselves on employing grown up friendly and professional staff with a lot of life experience, passion for the mountains and good commercial experience. All our staff undergo an intensive training programme to ensure our food is excellent, attention to detail prevails and consistent high standards of customer service are achieved.
Working closely at all times with More Mountain owners Sam & Jon, More Mountain staff have a thorough knowledge of the business knowing what good service is all about. Most of them have actually stayed as guests at More Mountain, worked within a customer service environment, or been to Morzine in the past. We couldn’t ask for more really…
Chalet Hosts 2018/2019
Alice & Jamie - Chalet Jirishanca
Some of you may already know these two!! Alice and Jamie are our More Mountain Chalet Hosts from Down Under and have been a couple for for six years. Back home in Adelaide, Australia, Jamie worked as a commercial lawyer for almost 10 years straight out of University, and Alice pursued a busy career in the marketing and events industry. For them, the office life just wasn’t giving them the satisfaction they craved.
In 2017 they left their careers to follow a shared passion for snowboarding, travel and adventure, and they haven’t looked back. Since landing their feet in Morzine, they have become addicted to work and life in the mountains, and have had many inter season travel adventures together.
Alice and Jamie love every part of the ‘laid back luxury’ style that More Mountain delivers. They’re a fun loving couple who enjoy a good laugh at dinner, and they can’t wait to see what this season brings. Having worked both a winter at Chalet JJ and summer season at Jirishanca for us, it’s safe to say you’re in good hand with these two!
We’re very excited to be back for another winter season in Morzine and we can’t wait to meet all our guests at Jiri. See you soon for a glass or two!
Jonny & Asia - Chalet JJ
Jonny & Asia completely “get it” when it comes to MM chalet holidays. Having worked a winter and summer season for More Mountain. They met at Uni and have recently been travelling and working their way around the world. Asia learned to Snowboard New Zealand. Whereas Jonny has been snowboarding for the last 10 years, and has visited Morzine and More Mountain multiple times with his family for holidays at the famous Slushy Social!
Jonny has worked as a Snowboard Instructor, Freestlye Coach, Park Shaper and Climbing Instructor. He loves nothing more than getting others involved, helping people to experience something new & he’s always on hand to give advice. Asia has worked in hospitality for many years as a senior supervisor, she is a true Yorkshire lass, with the warmth to match. She is a fantastic cook, and makes Yorkshire puddings to die for!
We're thrilled to be joining More Mountain for another winter. We cant wait to host new and old guests alike for more incredible times, toffee vodkas and big laughs!
Rosie & Adam
Adam and Rosie love to explore the world together and have spent the summer working for a flotilla company in Croatia where Adam was the Route Manager and Rosie was a Skipper with guests on her yacht. Adam has a love for skiing and this is his 5th season in the Alps, he can’t wait to share his passion with Rosie!
Adam grew up in the Ribble Valley (in the North of the England) which meant from a young age he was accustomed to the outdoor life! After University Adam went on to teach sailing and windsurfing. It was at this point he decided living the seasonal life was for him! He subsequently has spent the winters running hotels in the Alps and the summers skippering yachts around the Mediterranean.
Rosie grew up in the Cotswolds and has since moved to Isle of Wight on the South coast of the UK due to her passion for being on the water. She worked in Sales and Marketing for many years after graduating from university. Over the summer Rosie was not just the Skipper but she was also the chef on her yacht, she loved the cooking part of her role and developed baking on boats, she was renowned for baking cakes whilst skippering a yacht through a storm!
We love creating unforgettable holidays and can’t wait to do this in Morzine! We are both super excited to move from the sea to the snow and work for More Mountain. We love good food (especially cheese…) and wine and can’t wait to share this with you as we welcome you to our chalet and to everything which More mountain offers
Marty & Amy
Martyn is from Poole in the UK and Amy is from Sydney, Australia. They met in Florida USA whilst working on Superyachts in the Caribbean. Martyn grew up by the sea and has always loved the water, surfing and boats. He worked in the boatyards and trained to become a marine engineer straight out of school followed by a significant stint in the merchant navy working at sea on large commercial vessels.
They both love snowboarding and can never get enough of it. Martyn first learnt in Andorra five years ago and Amy did a week in the Australian ski fields at 18 but became properly addicted in Canada five years ago. Amy is a qualified lawyer who worked in corporate law and eventually decided to travel. During this time she worked as both a dive instructor on the Great Barrier Reef and a snowboard instructor in Banff, Canada.
Having snowboarded together in Canada and Austria, they have just finished a ski season in Queenstown, New Zealand. Their passion for the snow was reinforced by time spent in New Zealand, where they decided to continue chasing the winter all the way to Europe. France was our first choice. Martyn has snowboarded the Portes du Soleil area before and knowing what the area has to offer, they decided together that this was where they wanted to call home for the next six months!
We loved the idea of chalet hosting at More Mountain and really identified with Sam and Jon with both their business and also their background and passion for the snow. We are super excited to be part of the team this season. We both love the French Alps, the snow and good food and wine and we can't wait to share this with our guests at More Mountain!
Kyle & Aileen
Aileen and Kyle both proud Scots from Edinburgh, have quit their professional jobs to take a career break and embrace a new life in the Alps. They both love travelling and can’t wait to spend their first winter season with More Mountain in Morzine!
Aileen moved abroad when young and spent several years living around the world including Japan, USA, England and The Netherlands before moving back to Scotland for University. Having moved to Alaska at 3 years old, weekends were spent at the local ski resort learning to ski even before riding a bike!
Kyle grew up in Edinburgh and learned to ski through family holidays to the Alps, day trips to Glenshee and Edinburgh’s very own dry ski slope – Hillend! But it wasn’t long before he caught the travel bug and spent many years after school and Uni exploring New Zealand (skiing in Queenstown), South East Asia and Australia.
Aileen has worked in professional event and hospitality sales for the past 6 years, and Kyle went from guiding tours around the Highlands to Operational Manager for one of Scotland’s top tour companies. They both share a passion for Scotland and will gladly chew your ear off about why it should be your next holiday destination!
Both extremely active in their spare time, Aileen is a member of a professional cheerleading squad and can often be seen dancing at Murrayfield Stadium, and Kyle, a keen golfer and football fan, has recently completed his first marathon! They’re a sociable couple who love to meet new people, travel and have new experiences and can’t wait to see what this season will bring.
We can’t wait to be part of the More Mountain team this year for our first ski season! We share a love of good food, good wine, good company and can’t wait to create a warm and welcoming chalet for all our guests. We will go out of our way to make sure you have the holiday of a lifetime!
Chalet Assistant - Rachel
This will be Rachel’s 3rd season in Morzine and 1st with More Mountain. She’s here to work alongside the whole team, with a focus on chalets and is super stoked to be getting to experience another winter in her favourite place, Morzine!
She’s been snowboarding since she was 24 and quickly thought of nothing else. Rachel previously worked as a graphic designer in London for almost 8 years prior to her first season, managing a design team in a stressful and busy environment.
Eventually she decided to ditch the desk job and try a new kind of ‘board’ meeting! It was the best decision she ever made, and now she has a great balance of living in beautiful Morzine in the winter and heads back to London for the summer, continuing to work as a freelance designer.
Her love of the mountains, being creative and pushing her riding, working with happy people and meeting a bunch of fun guests every year is what she loves most about the season life. Safe to say you are good hands.
I’m really looking forward to being part of team More Mountain; I think the combination of high end Chalet design and laid back relaxing vibes are my ideal environment. It will be great to work with like minded people and meet all the lovely guests, plus inspire them all to keep coming back year after year like me 🙂
Apartment Assistant - Kate
Kate has been heading to the mountains each year since the age of 7 and fell in love with snowboarding as a teenager. Her enthusiasm and smiley personality is what drew us to bring her into the Apartments team to work alongside Carolyn.
Kate qualified as a pharmacist 6 years ago and decided to leave her permanent role working in a hospital in Central London to be able to work in the mountains for winter & summer seasons with More Mountain. She loves the laid back luxury ethos of our company and is born to be in hospitality… who knows where this will take her?!
I can't wait for another winter season with the team at More Mountain. I look forward to warmly welcoming all the apartment guests as they arrive into resort and will be on hand at all times to ensure every aspect of your holiday is catered for to the highest standard. I will happily show you around resort & point you in the direction of the many highlights Morzine has to offer!
Apartment Assistants - Robbie & Kristina
Robbie and Kristina are both from the Channel Islands. The pair have been living and working in Guernsey for the last five years balancing busy jobs with all the things which are most important to them: Friends, family, food and sport. A recent month in New Zealand whet their appetites but they are ready for something really different. Kristina and Robbie believe they have found their perfect match with More Mountain.
For Robbie it is all about people. In situations both professional and personal, Robbie is always happiest when spending time with people and making friends. Finding it hard to sit still, Robbie is always looking to be active, especially if volleyball is involved. Scrimping and saving through school to pay for ski trips cemented Robbie’s love of skiing and life in the mountains.
Kristina has always had a love for travel, having lived in Sweden and South Korea for a number of years. Kristina is happiest exploring new places, making friends along the way and sampling the local food! Kristina was introduced to skiing through her parents who met doing a ski season in Zermatt many moons ago. Since then she has chased the snow across Europe most winters and can’t wait to be in the mountains this season.
We can’t wait to join the More Mountain team for our first season and make sure that you have a wonderful time during your stay!
More Mountain HQ Staff
Sales, Operations & Accounts - Paul & Bex
Bex & Paul joined More Mountain HQ in 2014 and it is safe to say they are dab hand at running the business alongside Sam & Jon. Having looked after all our apartments, in both winter and summer, hand holding new staff and massively contributing to the overall running of head office operations over the last 12 months, they are the right hand team to Sam & Jon.
They met over 10 years ago whilst working in the professional housing sector in London. Paul specialised in Finance and Business Planning whilst Bex worked as a Project Manager within development. Having both left the London rat race for a sabbatical break a few years ago, with a shared passion for travelling, it was thanks to Paul that Bex took up snowboarding soon after they met. Within 12 months they realised that their hearts belonged in the Alps and have been here ever since.
They have now settled into a full time permanent family life here in Morzine and we have all had the pleasure of saying hello to their beautiful newborn baby boy recently. We are really happy to keep them as a solid part of team HQ for the foreseeable future!
We want to be able to put all our professional skills into practice whilst living and working in Morzine all year round. More Mountain's opportunity was exactly what we were hoping for so we’re really excited to be a part of it all at MMHQ and look forward to speaking with you all soon!
Apartments Director - Carolyn
Carolyn joined More Mountain in Summer 2015 along with her husband Tom and hasn’t looked back. Tom has now started his own online business, but Carolyn is here to stay at More Mountain. Before moving to Morzine Carolyn worked for over 10 years in hospitality in varying roles for a large hotel chain including running health clubs, events sales and finally as Restaurant and Bar Manager.
Carolyn is now responsible for all things Apartments, she is always on hand to help plan your trip to Morzine and ensure that everything is spot on for your arrival. Having previously run a chalet for Le Ski in Val D’Isere and subsequently running Chalet Robin & Chalet Jirishanca for More Mountain, it is safe to say you will be in good hands… She’s a dab hand!
I am really looking forward to another winter of snow filled fun and adventures. This will be my third year of running the self catered apartments for More Mountain and I am working with another fantastic team this winter. We look forward to welcoming you to Morzine and are always on hand to ensure that you have a fantastic stay in our amazing Apartments.
Client Manager, Chalets - Laura
Some of you old-skool More Mountain peeps may remember Laura who started working for us back in 2011 when she ran La Cabine with her boyfriend, Sam. Later she moved onto running our Chalet Operations at More Mountain HQ and was part of the team until 2014 when she moved back to the UK. Well, now she’s back in Morzine as our Client Manager for Catered Chalets! Having been part of the team for many years, safe to say you’ll be in safe hands this winter.
Laura has a degree in International Business & French and before moving back to Morzine worked in international sales & marketing and ran her own catering business. She’s been skiing since the age of 11, loves to travel and has come back to visit us in Morzine many times over the past couple of years.
I'm super excited to be back in Morzine working for More Mountain! I can't wait to catch up with some familiar faces and make sure you all have a fantastic holiday in the snow!
