What's on in Morzine Summer 2023

Think Morzine and the French Alps, and most people think of skiing and winter holidays BUT there is so much going on in Morzine during the summer.

As well as being a fantastic summer holiday destination, Morzine regularly plays host to a number of renowned events and Summer 2023 is no exception!

Watch some of the world's best cyclists compete in the Tour de France or Mountain Bike World Cup, challenge yourself in the Spartan or Trail des Hauts Forts, or relax on the Morzine Beach - there is something for everyone and all the family in Morzine this Summer.

 

Pass'Portes du Soleil

23 - 25 June

An epic mountain bike event covering the huge Portes du Soleil, the Pass'Portes course covers 80km, two countries, 13 lifts, 720m of climbing, and 5700m of downhill.

New for 2023 is Pass’Portes du Soleil Gravel, a two-day gravel bike route covering 60km through the French Alps. 

Morzine town centre will also host the Pass'Portes Bike Show over the whole weekend featuring international bike brands and bike tests.

 

Spartan Trifecta Weekend & 50K Ultra

1 - 2 July

Billed as "the Spartan weekend of the summer", the event has something for everyone from a Sprint 5K course through to the only Spartan Ultra 50K in France. There's even an event for the kids.

 

Étape du Tour de France

9 July

A chance for amateurs to experience the challenges of the Tour de France, the 31st edition of the Étape du Tour covers the 152km and 4100m of elevation between Annemasse and Morzine, a week before the same route plays host to the 14th stage of the Tour de France.

 

Tour de France 2023 - Stage 14

15 July

Morzine will host the finish of the 14th stage of the legendary Tour de France. The Charniaz chair will be running to give spectators outstanding views on the final sections of the course as the riders descend into Morzine from the Col de Joux Plane.

The 15th stage departs from neighbouring Les Gets on Sunday July 16th.

23 July

A traffic-free opportunity for cyclists to tackle the famous Col de Joux Plane!

 

Morzine Royaume des Marmots

24 - 28 July and 7 - 11 August

For two weeks every summer the centre of Morzine transforms into the Royaume des Marmots (Kingdom of the Marmots), with free activities for kids and families taking place every day. 

 

Morzine Plage / Morzine Beach

2 - 3 August

What makes the best summer holiday destination, the beach or the mountains? Well you don't need to compromise because at the start of August, the beach comes to Morzine!

 

Trail des Hauts-Forts

5 August

A high-altitude mountain trail running event with stunning views linking Morzine to Avoriaz. There are four events to choose from, all registered as UTMB Index races. 

 

Triathlon Morzine - Montriond

26 August

The Morzine Triathlon is a way to fully experience all the area has to offer. Swim in Lac Montriond, cycle up a mountain pass and finish with a run along the beautiful river Dranse. With distances to suit all levels from beginners to experts, tackle it alone or get some friends together for a relay you won't forget!

 

Mont Blanc Rally

1 - 2 September

Morzine once again plays host to the Mont Blanc Rally with stages taking place on the roads around the town. A must-see for rally fans.

 

UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Festival

7 - 17 September

Experience the first ever UCI mountain bike festival covering downhill and cross country over 10 days in Morzine, Les Gets and Chatel. With fantastic racing from some of the best riders in the world, and a festival atmosphere around the town, this is going to be a great way to finish the Summer.
